A Venezuela politician has launched a raffle to help fund his election campaign - and the lucky winner will receive a breast-enlargement operation.

Gustavo Rojas hopes the unusual raffle, with tickets at $6 (£3.90), will help him get elected to the National Assembly on 26 September.

"Some people raffle TVs and we decided to offer this. It's an interesting prize," he told Reuters news agency.

Analysts say some 30,000 Venezuelans have breast implants each year.

But Mr Rojas said voters should not read too much into his fundraising technique.

"The raffle is a financing mechanism, nothing else," he said.

"When someone raffles a TV, some people think it's a good TV but others don't like it. It's the same. I'm not showing disrespect to anyone."
