Police in South Carolina have arrested a woman who reportedly walked into her teenage son’s school and slapped the wrong child.

Spartanburg County sheriff’s deputies say 36-year-old Tyshekka Collier went to Fairforest Middle School Wednesday morning to pick up her son who had reportedly gotten in trouble and was being suspended.

According to WLTX News, Collier stormed into the principal’s office and slapped a child sitting on the couch with his head down. Unfortunately for Collier, the young boy she slapped wasn’t her son, but was a sick kid waiting to be picked up by his mother.

Realizing her mistake, she apologized to the boy, walked over and began hitting her own child for getting suspended. Police reports show Collier slapped her son in the head and face with both of her hands, knocking him to the ground.

The school’s principal, Ty Dawkins, called authorities after Collier’s assault.

Upon their arrival, police arrested Collier and charged her with disturbing a school and two counts of third-degree assault and battery.

Following the incident, FOX Carolina spoke with the mistaken slap victim and his mother, who said when she arrived at the school and was greeted by her sick son saying, “Mamma, I’ve been slapped.”

The boy’s mother, Shelly Williams, questioned Collier’s actions, pointing out that the two kids look nothing alike.

“I know my child don’t look like her child,” Williams said. “I know her child ain’t the same size as my child, so what was her problem?”

In addition to Collier’s arrest, authorities said they placed her three children in emergency protective custody after talking with witnesses and everyone involved.

She was released from jail on bond.

Here is a video on the incident:
